About Rachel Jackson

I've been drawing since I can remember. My mom has told me stories of me drawing on the blinds when I was just a toddler so I had a passion for art at a young age. I come from an artistic family, whether it be music, art, crafts or writing. I had a talent for music and I always sketched but it wasn't till I was in high school that I really started playing with paint. I say playing, I didn't get serious with technique til I was in my early twenties. I never went to school for art or studied under anyone. All the techniques and style I've aquired over the years was either self taught or picked up from family memebers. I'm lucky to be surrounded by other artists that keep me inspired and understand the quirks that come with being an artist. Its a constant struggle to stay motivated with originality but I have a great support system to help me with that. Another great support to me and was the real start of my company was my best friend and biggest fan of my work Kathleen McDermott-Jones. With out her none of these pieces would have come into reality.

As I build up a collection of original pieces to sell in the future, I do take on custom commissioned artwork. I like to communicate with my client on ideas, references, size and mood to be portrayed. This is also how I determine the price of each piece. Up until I actually start on the piece I like to get the best idea possible of what a client expects so there isn't any dissapointment in the end. Not to boast but I haven't had a dissapointed client yet. If interested in custom artwork you may find my information on the Contact Page.
